Imagine that God returns to a modern day earth, with a view to re-establishing his following. But instead of doing it with benevolence, he uses brute-force. Instead of compassion, cruelty.

This is the intriguing opening to Clive Barker's Next Testament, the first four episodes of which are compiled into this single volume. If you were in any doubt, this is pure Barker, where twisted gods, innocent lovers and power-hungry fools all compete for dominance.

While the artwork sometimes wasn't my taste, the story takes precedence, and I am looking forward to seeing what happens in the next few issues.

Even if you aren't into comic books but love the strange and bizarre, this book is a must have. The story is magnificent and keeps the pages turning. If you've never read Clive Barker this is great place to start for the addiction that is sure to come. Mike Miller's artistry is outstanding and delicious, you'll have to get a copy to see what I mean.

I do love this. I haven't felt this close to Clive Barker since the 90s. It's like his vintage stuff. Mean. Blasphemous. Visceral. And bloody as hell. I love it.
