The Baby safe Bump Belt is designed to help protect the unborn baby and mother-to-be whilst travelling by car.
A normal vehicle lap belt can exert extreme pressure on the womb in the event of an accident or even during heavy breaking. In a low speed accident, a person can be projected forward with a force of 5 tons. Furthermore, many mothers-to-be, during the later stages of pregnancy have been known to stop wearing their seat belt because it gets too uncomfortable - this is extremely dangerous and illegal!
- When correctly fitted, the bump belt ensures that the lap portion of the seat belt does not ride up over the tummy, keeping the lap belt low over the hips and pelvis which are better able to absorb any impact

I bought one of these after spending a fairly long car journey constantly fiddling with the seat belt as it kept pressing against my bump. I don't like anything against my tummy at the best of times, but in the early stages of my pregnancy I found that combined with morning sickness anything touching that area just made me nauseous.
The belt is really easy to fit all you do is make sure that it's the right way up, and pull the two straps around the back of the car seat to then fasten the product in place. The straps are plenty long enough to fit any car seat without too much problem. The two pieces of elastic at the front then fasten with strong velcro around the lap part of the seat belt holding it down on your hips instead of right across your tummy.
I am now 6 months pregnant and as I'm getting bigger I'm using it every time I drive. If I drive, or travel as a passenger in another car I can quickly take it out and put it in that one making all my journeys much more comfortable.
If you're reading this then I'd like to wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy (assuming that the belt's for you), and baby.

I used the belt mainly during a car trip when I was 5 months pregnant. It worked ok, keeping the safe belt quite comfortably under my belly. I am not sure though if the belt would keep me equally safe in an accident.
