Received this box a week ago and had a nice time watching these movies. The respective BluRays of the different movies have been linked in order to provide you a complete picture of this great compilation. Added also the complete language setup since this webshop is not providing this information.

You can't go wrong with this collection. Unforgiven - probably the best western ever. Gran Torino - fantastic swansong for everyones favourite actor. Mystic River - All star award winning drama. And the Flags of our Fathers / Letters from Iwo Jima pair of WWII dramas. What's more - the boxset contains individual films - so it's easy to integrate into your collection - and you can sell a duplicate or the odd unwanted film on ebay.

Not all actors can make the move from actor to director and not all those who do can make it successfully. Clint Eastwood is an obvious exception and, in my humble opinion, his films have grown in stature over the years. His early films, e.g. the "Dirty Harry" series and the range of westerns were all good examples of the genre, indeed, they helped establish genres but as he has grown older and matured, his films have deepened and, in place of the (some would say gratuitous) violence, "messages" and "meanings" of a much more humane, philosophical and generous nature are emerging. "Flags of Our Fathers" and "Letters from Iwo Jima" are excellent films, shedding the macho approach to war and looking at the effects on the lives of those involved - a war from both points of view. "Gran Torino", its central character possibly one of the embittered, post-war generation, tackles gang culture, city ghettoes, the generation-gap and the difficulties of stepping outside one's atavistic existence to see other human beings and is a moving film with a surprising ending."Mystic River" and "Unforgiven" complete the collection, both great films.
RJ0521 (Bielefeld)'s review and the product details give all the additional information required but, suffice to say, this is an excellent collection from a director who has matured into the directorial chair with ease and an ability (and the financial clout) to choose his increasingly sensitive and sophisticated stories (in the best sense of the word) with great care and portray them on screen with a sensitive, acute eye for what works to drive the stories and plots forward.
Well worth the money - a lot cheaper than an evening at the cinema and hours of thought-provoking enjoyment.

Misleading information, Letters from... has only Japanes Audio track!
Before you buy this great collection beware only about the fact that one disc (Letter from...) has only Japanes Audio track. Read more
