Review
"What makes this such an interesting book? First and foremost, the editor assembled an all–star, international cast of clinical and basic science pancreatologists. Second, that chapters, all 60 of them, are only as long as they need to be. Some are very short (3–4 pages); only a few are long. Third, for a text covering such a large landscape, there is remarkably little overlap between chapters. Fourth, considerable thought and effort has been given to the layout of each chapter, with ample tables and figures to guide the non–expert reader. Fifth, despite the difficulty of keeping a textbook "fresh" when the data change so quickly, this one is remarkably current... There are so many excellent chapters in this book it is impossible to identify them all... In summary, this is a well–designed and executed textbook that has something for everyone in the field of pancreatology. It deserves to do well." Gastroenterology 2005; 129:1356–1357
