Product Description

Product Description

This is a Revised Second Edition of Dr Kroger's classic work on hypnosis, which describes successful hypnotherapy techniques for a wide range of medical, psychiatric, and dental conditions. Dr Kroger's work in developing the concept of clinical hypnosis, and making it a part of the science of behavior modification, is generally regarded as the foundation of modern hypnotherapy. This Revised Second Edition features an introduction by Michael Yapko, PhD, an internationally recognized expert in short-term psychotherapy, which places Dr Kroger's work in contemporary context. A bound-in DVD features two of Dr Kroger's filmed demonstrations of surgical procedures using hypnosis as anesthesia, one for childbirth and another for thyroid surgery, plus extensive commentary by Michael Yapko, PhD.

Dry as a bone 10 Dec 2010
By SB
Format:Hardcover
I am studying clinical hypnosis as post graduate qualification and this book is on the reading list. In truth, reading it is like chewing on sand. A dry, laborious and uncomfortable experience. Having said that, it is useful as a reference book to dip in and out of from time to time. There are many references and studies which are of use academically. If you are having trouble sleeping at night. This is the book to buy.

A significant work from an historical perspective, this book is certainly worthy of a place in any comprehensive library of volumes on hypnosis.

That said, it is, unfortunately, a dated work and of limited use to today's practitioner.

If you already have a well-stocked library and would like to add to it then by all means invest in this book, otherwise, well, there are far more relevent works available that are more current, more useful and less expensive than this.

Great for practice enhancement. 13 Sep 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Found this book very informative for almost all aspects of medical and dental hypnosis. Loaded with scripts and techniques to enhance your practice. I have read this book three times and each time pick up something new. Would reccommend this for the beginner and novice and a must for honing one's skills.

Excellent text and reference book 30 July 2007
By Elgin B. E. Gossalter - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This book is an extremely useful and pleasant to read thorough review of all apects relating to hypnosis and can be used by professionals who are already certified hypnotherapists as well as laymen. The language is clear and the reading flows easily. The intention to make his work accessible to all readers becomes quite clear as soon as one starts reading. Naturally, since it was first issued, some new knowledge, specially in the field of neurosciences, has become public but this does in no way diminish the broad approach given by the author. I'd recommend the book to anyone interested in the fascinating subject "hypnosis"

outdated 28 Feb 2010
By clear heart - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I returned this book. I found it outdated, and did not see the many scripts that another reviewer spoke about. If you are looking for an academic book on hypnotherapy, I highly recommend Michael Yapko's Trancework. Yapko wrote the introduction to this book, which is one of the reasons why I bought it, but it turns out that he emphasizes the author's contribution to the field of hypnosis some decades ago, and not the material in the book.
