VCAP602 USB 2.0 video capture enables you to convert video+audio from your old VHS, V8, Hi8, camcorder, video recorder, DVD player or Satellite TV receiver to DVD/VCD. Using the software VHS2DVD, you can edit your newly captured video file, add titles, music etc before burning it to DVD/VCD. With unique "push to start, push to stop" button, you can easily capture the video clips you'd like to save. Simply press the button on VCAP602 to start recording, then press it again to stop recording. The captured video clips will be automatically saved on your hard drive.

I purchased this Climaxdigital video grabber hopeful it would work ---- and to my pleasure it did work.
If my opening comments sound skeptical it is because of purchasing other video grabber products that promised the earth and did not deliver.
I have always wanted to convert my old VCR tapes but did not want to purchase expensive recording equipment but I did in the past purchase Video grabbers that said they would work with windows vista & windows 7 but only to be dissapointed They did not work with windows Vista & 7 They would work to an extent with windows XP but they did have problems with sound.
I had resigned mylelf to never being able to wach my old VCR tapeds of past adventures with my family ( holidays / parties and the kids when they were young)again until I purchased the Climaxdigital product.
It works great The software & hardware downloaded easily and in no time I was up and running. I have converted my Camcorder tapes to DVD disc and also my VCR tapes as well.
If you follow the user manual for the Homestech software editor recording is very easy. The editing can be daunting but stick with it and play about until you gain experience and all will be well. I also purchased a Gold Switchable Scart to 3 x Phono & S-Video Adaptor to make it easy to connect to my VCR recorded by Scart connection, but I believe the video and sound connections that come with the Climaxdigital video grabber would work as well connected to the VCR recorder.
Overall I am extreamly happy with this product and at a great price too. and Yippee !!!!!! it works with windows 7 !!!!!

The product was simple to set up and at the first attempt seemed fine, but then all sorts of problems kicked in: 1. From time to time the everything would freeze up, requiring a system reboot. 2. I discovered that in order to control some of the glitches it was best if one VHS tape was processed and then the software closed down and restarted after a short pause. 3. Shutting down the internet connection also seemed to help software stability. 4. Initial testing showed reasonable image transfer to DVD, it was only later that I discovered that the soundtracks contained sections of loud hissing noise, lasting anything from seconds to minutes and repeating randomly.

I have given this item 3 stars mainly as the service was impressive and I am sure its ok but so far I have failed to get it working....The back of my video recorder has only a red (audio R) white (audio L) and black(coaxial) out sockets and a red and white (DVD/VCR L/R out) so what do I do with the yellow? Tried a scart adapter with all 3 colours and still no luck. I am sure its me and not the gadget. The instructions are a bit of a mystery...Software loaded fine.
Will come back with 5 stars if I get there...
Here I am with 5 stars! I had to get one of those little scart box things that have an in/out switch on them and bingo! Brilliant.
Just been viewing all my 20 year old video tapes and got all nostalgic. Must start recording..... :-)

Neat piece of kit
Works well and does the job. I have not yet mastered the freeze frame option but l doubt that if one is copying and old cine to video VHS the stills would be much good.
