This is the first HDMI over CAT5 unit I have bought. I was impressed with the easy setup. I already had a CAT5 network in place so I didn't have to run cables etc. Sometimes the audio has a lot of interferance noise. It might be that I am picking up some localised noise from a power cable. It might be the unit struggling with the amount of information over the single CAT5 cable.

I was firstly put on to this product by a friend who had recently installed one of these to get HD content from his main living room up to a bedroom so he could watch Sky and BD's off his PS3. His install was a simple affair with a single cable going between the two points, but mine was going to be different and I was unsure how it would cope.
I was running two Cat5e cables from my living room up to a patch panel in my loft - 1 was for my data network and the other would be used exclusively for transmitting HD. From my loft I then ran a separate length of Cat5e to our master bedroom and used a short (0.8m) Cat6 patch lead to join the two cables at the patch panel.
This device has worked a treat and I now have a crystal clear 1080i (max. Sky HD output) picture in our master bedroom! I had to use both the power supplies (I have read of some users not needing these) but this wasn't an issue. In fact, the only issue is that now the picture is so good the wife has stated that we need a bigger screen in the bedroom as 23" is too small!

This extender has just arrived and works straight out of the box. I am using it to watch recorded TV etc (from my Media Centre PC) on a TV in the kitchen over the CAT6 cabling which I already had in place. I use an app on my phone to control the PC so I don't need a keyboard or mouse.
Works perfectly and the video and audio output from this device are great.

This device only uses one CAT5/6 cable which is a bonus because I noticed a lot of others seem to need 2 cables.

My only minor criticism is that it would be nice if the receiver unit picked up power from the sender rather than having it's own external power adapter. This would make it easier to hide behind a TV or monitor.

Works ok, solid construction, just make sure you use top notch cable otherwise signal drops and so does image quality and resolution!

This product does exactly what it claims. They come in metal cases and appear to be well made. Simply plug your HDMI source into the sender, run your Cat 5 or 6 cable to the room you want to watch HDMI source in, plug it into the receiver and connect your HDMI cable.
A word of warning!!!!! If you are using a ready made Ethernet cable make sure it is a good quality, fully wired one. Cheaper ones only connect the 4 pins that are needed for the internet. If you crimp your own plugs to the cable (plugs and tools really cheap on Amazon) it is not a problem.

I have run CAT6 around my house whilst under reconstruction and was looking at a far more expensive option but this does the job for us. Have a separate COAX run for the magic eye. The more expensive option was going to give me the ability to control 4 inputs but to be honest, it's just as easy to pop into my unit and switch HDMI cables between inputs for the amount of time I use something different.
Bonus is only 1 cable run required, unlike some other options which require 2.

My setup is a 18m Cat6e cable from the kitchen to my bedroom. I had a powerless HDMI Splitter to split the HDMI from my SKY HD Box to the sender and to my TV. The Sky box complained and said that there was not a secure link and would not let me watch any channels. I then bought a Powered HDMI Splitter. Yay! Everything works fine, for 30 mins, then I get static on my bedroom telly. After restarting the sender in the kitchen it is now all up and running. Sound Quality 10/10 Picture quality 9.8/10 ( I pixel peep by the way ;) ) There we go! They are up and running. Lets see how long they last ;) Hopefully forever!
