Product Description

Product Description
Cliff Richard has been Britain's longest surviving and most consistent hit music maker. Starting his career as a rock 'n' roll threat to decent, upstanding citizens, he is now a friend to Royalty and prime ministers, a Knight and a holder of the OBE. This book tells his story chronologically, through the voices of his friends, family and colleagues - like listening in on a dinner party attended by most of the key people in his career. The stories told reveal Cliff as seen by those closest to him and, in contrast to the many official publications, this book does not just include the flattering stories. The author's probing questions have elicited extraordinary memories and observations, previously unheard by the public. Heavily illustrated with rare and interesting photographs of Cliff at work and play, this book will stand as a lasting testament to one of the most glorious careers in British show business.

About the Author
Steve Turner is the author of The Man Called Cash: The Life, Loves and Faith of an American Legend, Trouble Man: The Life and Death of Marvin Gaye, The Gospel According to the Beatles and Van Morrison: Too Late to Stop Now. As Cliff Richard's authorized biographer he is frequently used as a consultant on Cliff Richard related radio and TV projects. His previous book for Carlton, A Hard Day's Write: The Stories Behind Every Beatles' Song, has now sold over a quarter of a million copies.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic book release in years!!, 22 April 2008
By Luke73 (LONDON) - See all my reviews
Steve Turner is an official Cliff biographer, and this book is no exception to the amount of wealth of research to the amount of people who knew Cliff Richard through the 50 years in showbusiness and his life from a youngster.

This authorised book is like a sideline to Steve Turner's biography of Cliff in previous books. Here is a compendium of quotes from people/and Cliff, taken from the exact year from his life. It is unique the way the book is compiled, with quotes you may have heard already. But still a great read.

The icing on the cake in this book are the wealth of photographs which Steve Turner has access to, from his Birth through School and his career. Pictures which you have not seen before, as well as memorabilia pictures, magazine covers and all sorts. It is illustrated throughout with Colour and B/W photos!

It also includes a great discography at the end of the book.

The book itself is of average size and not that heavy in weight.

There's going to be another book in September with a biographical account of Cliff's 50 years in showbusiness which can be pre-order at Amazon.

'Cliff Richard: The Batchelor Boy' is a must for all Cliff's fans.
