This video contains mainly bootleg footage which was shot by fans of the band between 1983 and 1987. Sound quality in some places is not fantastic but that does not detract from the power of the music or the individual performances. The band was young and hungry during this period and their stage presence is awesome - a shape of things to come. All the early classic's are present and correct and this is interspersed by hilarious footage of the band getting more and more drunk. Overall this is a video for the dedicated and knowledgeable fan - not one for newcomers. A classic notheless.

I don't own this DVD, but I do have an ancient copy of this on VHS. I first saw the video in the 1991, at the tender age of 15, and this is what inspired me to pick up the bass guitar. OK, the sound quality is rubbish for most of it, but as the content is all bootleg footage done with video cameras from the crowd that's hardly surprising. Despite this (or perhaps because of this) the live footage is great, and all of Cliff's best solo's are on here.

Other footage shows early TV interviews, and Metallica as a bunch of drunk/stoned long haired kids out to play some music and basically have a good time.

All in all, this is a great tribute to an incredibly talented man, who's life was tragically cut short. Buy it.

In a nutshell this movie shows the blinding lead bass technique of Clifford Burton, a prodigy of the four string who refused to do his thing on a guitar. He's been a hell of an inspiration to me and any die hard metallica fan shold not be without it.
