Following Natural England's acorn waymarks, the route stretches from Helmsley and the White Horse in the west across the Moors to the dramatic coastline from Saltburn to Filey, offering panoramic views of the countryside and coast. This is the complete, official guide for the long-distance walker or the weekend stroller. "National Trail Guides" are the official guidebooks to the fifteen National Trails in England and Wales and are published in association with Natural England, the official body charged with developing and maintaining the Trails. This is the official guide to the National Trail that runs across the hills and along the coast of the North York Moors, published in association with Natural England. The features include: a complete description of the route divided into nine chapters, each covering one day's walk; 1:25 000 Ordnance Survey mapping marked with points of interest along the route shown alongside the text; full colour photographs throughout; background information on local history, wildlife, archaeology and landscape; and, comprehensive Useful Information section.

We walked sections of the Cleveland Way (along the coast) in 2007, and we found the guide relevant and up to date. Its always a good idea to be aware that long distance footpaths are maintained/upgraded, or not maintained/downgraded. There is a section leaving a beach which is very tricky. You pass along the rocks with the aid of ropes. Take care. We also had a blind person's guide from the North Yorks tourist office, which covers some material not found in this book.

an excellent aide to this walk. It was easy to follow and had some interesting notes on each section of the walk. He said day 3 was the most strenious and it was but it was worth the effort!!!, views were spectacular. I will do the Cleveland Way again , I loved every minute of it.

If you intend to walk "the Cleveland Way" be sure to read this book and take it along with you. Thats my plan anyway!
