5.0 out of 5 stars Two wonderfully, frighteningly honest stories 21 Jan 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
"Clerks" and "Chasing Amy" are the two intelligent comedies that have made Kevin Smith one of the premiere independent filmmakers of our generation, and I feel that anyone who likes Kevin Smith, anyone who likes film or theatre, or just generally anyone who thinks they could use a little insight into a world of characters so bizarre, they can only be referred to as realistic...Read this book. I give it ten or twelve stars!

If you've watched Clerks or Chasing amy and liked them even a little, GET THIS BOOK!!! It has the cut scenes from both movies (ie the scenes that didn't make it into the final theatre ed.) You might be wondering why i gave this a 9 and not a 10. This is simply because I was distraught that the Mallrats screenplay was not included. I mean, how can you have 2 of the Jersey Trilogy screenplays and not have the third? Oh well, perfection is hard to attain, but this comes pretty damn close.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting to fans of these films 1 Dec 2012
By Miss AL Holloway TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
I bought this book ages ago when I first saw the movies. Years later, Clerks and Chasing Amy are both still among my favourite films of all time. When I first discovered them, I became something of an obsessed Kevin Smith fan and I wanted to read everything about the films and the man himself so this seemed like essential reading to me. This will not be of great interest if you do not like these films, but for a fan it is fun to read and to see what lines were cut, what was changed, etc. Overall recommended, but only if you love Clerks and Chasing Amy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great stuff, but I'm keeping 9 or 10 for REALLY great stuff
The best thing about this book actually, to me, was Kevin's intro pages. He talks about why/when he started writing for movies. Two very good screenplays in one volume. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Genius, Genius, Genius
Smith turned a little $27000 film into a cult success, and it all started with what lies in this book. If you enjoyed the movie at all, then you will enjoy this book.
