This is one of the most wonderful books I have ever read. The sheer guts it took to write this story, to share this life changing tragedy, to let "us" know what really is going on, has forever changed me, and offered me insight and understanding that we all desperately need. I have a friend who recently lost her ten year old daughter and I had no idea of what to say, what to do, when, where or how. I found her behavior, not only toward me, but toward so many others who wanted to help and "be there", so odd; Miss Uppity Cleo gave me my answers. Thank You, Helen Brown, for sharing the raw truth with me, with us. This book is a blessing...not to mention Cleo. I have purchased several "Cleo" books, to share with those who have lost children as well as those of us who are their friends. This wonderful book brought understanding on my part and I hope it will assure my friends that healing is possible. My husband read it in one sitting, tears pouring down his face. I could not, and did not try, to put it down. The down side...I now want a kitten!

This is a rare and special book. I laughed, I cried, I remembered how precious simple moments of happiness are. The book begins with the tragic death of the author's 9 year old son, then soon after a kitten arrives. It is as if the kitten was sent from some higher force to help the family with the slow process of healing after such impossible loss.
I have a pet dog, so like this author, I really believe in the healing power of animals.
I can't wait for Helen Brown's next book!

Cat and dog people should read this book, and if you do have a cat you will recognised something of your cat in Cleo.
It is a very sad and funny book and a cannot put me down book. A must read. I am recommending this to all my friends. I would have had to read this book as I too have the same name! It will take a pride place on my coffee table for many years to come.

The writing doesn't do the story justice
