We bought this for my 10 year old son for Christmas. After installing the software from the CD included, he was able to create an excellent animation sequence completely on his own. It is very easy to use and the results are exceptional. The delay function is brilliant for children as it means the camera keeps taking shots every 5, 10, 15 .......60 seconds......hours (whatever you choose) so you can adjust the model and it automatically takes the next shot, so the sequence is created very quickly. My son created his in front of a sheet of blue paper and was then easily able to change the background on screen and adding music from mp3 files was easy too.
He hasn't used the onions skin function yet (despite dad's repeated advice) which would be useful for lining up the next series of shots, but he hasn't neeeded to - it's so easy to use and effective that he's managed to line them up sufficiently by eye.
I would definitely recommend this for children.

Hi this item is great it took only minutes to get started, simply plugged the cameradog in an he started working, software installed with no hitches. My sons of 9 and 10 have been making films with their lego all day, best christmas pressy and a great bargain. Will recommend to friends and our school. Its uses are endless, if my kids imaginations are anything to go by.
Buy it and enjoy some peace and quiet.

It's hard to know what you're paying for here. The K9 camera or the animation software - either way, I think it's pretty good value, and as you're actually getting both, I think it's a bargain!
The doggie-cam makes it instantly appealing to kids and is a clever ploy - turning what could be a rather boring gift to give, in to a pressie which looks much more like a toy. Now that's the sort of pressie you want when you're a kid. Not a boring old software CD!
So a smart bit of marketing which everyone benefits from. The robot hound's legs are articulated and a camera is housed in his snout, ready to capture all your... er, I mean the kids', animation efforts.
The software itself, although basic, is pretty good. Best of all its intuitive and easy to use. Results are fast and easy, and although basic in some respects, it also boasts some impressive features that will make your... er, the kids' films much more easy to make.
I found it easy, I mean, the kids found it... oh, who am I kidding?! I had as much fun with this as my nephew - who instantly figured it out, and together we were happily making the final three instalments of Starwars together (This is just made for Lego Starwars by the way!).
I could see myself having all types of fun with this as a kid (and indeed an adult) with everything from plastiscene, Action Man, Starwars toys and even bits of macaroni... you're only bound by your imagination and creativity. And with the features I hinted at earlier (the ability to add sound FX, Blue Screen technology and a special transparent 'Onion Skin' mode to help you line up your shots etc.) I wish they had toys like this when I was a kid. Maybe now I'd be working for Disney.
To sum up - a great toy, that's not really a toy, and a brilliant way to get your kids to do something constructive with their time. It also rewards patience, teaching kids that if you put in time and effort you can get really worth while results. Overall, and excellent item that makes a brilliant gift.
