This vaguely distracting re-telling of the Bigfoot legend is, as you might suspect, not a particularly great film. A group of dull-witted teenagers take to the woods (incidentally, where a series of brutal murders have JUST taken place) and end up getting hunted by Bigfoot himself. Throw in a group of psychopathic poachers, the town's wry sheriff, a Native American ranger with pretensions to a connection with the creature, some cheap effects and you have a movie that is ripe for a straight-to-DVD deal.
The film largely fails because the Bigfoot costume is hilarious and looks exactly like what it is: a bloke in a Bigfoot suit. As soon as you first see the creature, any possible scares become redundant and so the film ends up not working as a horror: its whole purpose of course. For all that, the film is well directed and looks good and I did sort of enjoy it, probably because it was so silly. But it's a poor horror film and only best watched with full expectation of trash!
