Biography

Modern electric blues guitar can be traced directly back to this Texas-born pioneer, who began amplifying his sumptuous lead lines for public consumption circa 1940 and thus initiated a revolution so total that its tremors are still being felt today.
Few major postwar blues guitarists come to mind that don't owe T-Bone Walker an unpayable debt of gratitude. B.B. King has long cited him ... Read more in Amazon's T-Bone Walker Store

Most Helpful Customer Reviews

10 of 10 people found the following review helpful By Mailian on 8 Feb. 2003
Format: Audio CD
When this collection of the best of the early 1950s Imperial recordings of T-Bone came out in the 1970s as a double album, it's superb jazzy guitar playing, smoky to casual vocals and the swinging backup complemented by Pete Welding's liner notes made it the blues album of the century.
With the original sleeve and tracks, this cd stands af the best T-Bone Walker compilation and thus as the greatest electric blues cd. Of the many highlights I just mention Love is a gamble and The hustle is on, the first one a slow blues and the second a swinging instrumental, setting the mood for the whole cd.
