Watson starb 1996 in Japan an Herzversagen

By Mr. Dc Fowler VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
Heh heh. I bought this on a whim when seeing it cross-referenced somewhere on Amazon. Another reason being that Johnny Guitar Watson was featured on Frank Zappa's One Size Fits All album and uttered the immortal line at the end of San Berdino "Bobby, I'm sorry you got a head like a potato. I really am" making Zappa audibly crack up laughing. He also appeared on other Zappa disks notably the track "In France" on Them or Us. This record is early rock and roll with a rhythm and blues edge to it. The very early stuff feature JGW as part of a backing group for Chuck Higgins (I think, haven't got the CD to hand right now) but the later stuff is him in his own band. His guitar work looks forward to that of Hendrix 15 years later and is something else. This guy invented the 60's lead guitar style, no word of a lie. As well as his singular guitar playing his voice is good, very strong. Plus his songs are sometimes bitter sweet sometimes humorous. I thoroughly recommend the JGW Wikipedia entry for his life and times and discography. I also thoroughly recommend this record. You won't hear a better blues/rock and roll album of this period anywhere.
