A Classical Primer is a small, but fun introduction to Greek and Roman culture: from language to science, and from history to literature, which shows that the Greeks may not have invented everything, but they definitely tried. As for the Romans, they definitely were more than mad, bad and dangerous to know. The information is given in small, easily digestible chapters, and the best part is that it's all written in a light-hearted, fun manner. I'd definitely recommend it for people interested in ancient Greek and Roman civilization, but with little knowledge of it.

This book is absolutely brilliant. The writing is excellent everything flows very well and concepts are explained very easily for a layman to understand. I would recommend this book to anyone with even a mild interest in classics and/or ancient history.

Liked almost everything about this book, which told me lots of things I should probably have learnt when I was much younger! Would have got the fifth star if the Kindle version (the one I bought) didn't have a number of tables of interesting stuff which were very small and apparently couldn't be enlarged, no matter how much I tried. Well worth a read, unless of course you did all that stuff at school (in which case you wouldn't even be considering it). Really enjoyed it and found it useful, just a shame about those tables.

This is a rather contrived book, more jokes than substance. I would have preferred a brief but more serious overview of the subject.

A short introduction to the classics aimed at those with state education who haven't covered it in school. There are chapters on language, legends, philosophy, science and inventions. An interesting book, though a little repetitive due to its structure. The kindle version has some information in tables but the writing is really small and you can't make it larger (at least on my standard kindle) because they're stored as images.
