5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!!!!, 2 May 2007
This review is from: All Classical Music Explained (Audio CD)
This has to be the best CD purchase I have ever, ever, made!!!

Rainer Hersch is brilliantly errudite, his humour is not afraid to be clever - and yet he carries all his listeners with him from the outset of each section.

If you like classical music - and even if you don't - you'll LOVE this CD.

This is the only comedy CD that I am still unable to listen to in the car if I'm driving - I have to pull over and laugh till I cry!

The other brilliant aspect of Rainer Hersch's humour, is that he doesn't feel the need to swear every 3 minutes in order to get a laugh - making this CD the first that I've been able to share to both my children and my grandparents without feeling embaressed.

I loved this CD so much that I'm driving 200 miles next month to see him live!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Shame about the audience., 5 Jan 2011
This review is from: All Classical Music Explained (Audio CD)
Rainer's musical comedy is great and original (not at all in the shadow of Borge).

We really could do with an up-date on his act in CD form because this one is not only long-in-the-tooth but it's almost unbearable to listen to more than once, on account of the OTT cackling of an audience member.
She laughs loudly all the time, even at things that are just part of the set up for a gag and ruins the performance for the home listener.
Why didn't they take her outside till she had calmed down a bit?
They should have had the guts to junk this recording and do it again.
