This non technical film about Scotland's highland rail routes has got everything, steam, diesel and sprinters. It has views from the air, the cab and trackside. If you could only have one DVD about Scotland's railways - this is the one.

This is a well-executed piece of filming, and the camera position in the cab gives an excellent forward view. Inevitably, it does not cover all the Scottish lines, and the Kingdom of Fife appears to have disappeared: we move from the Forth Bridge almost immediately to the Tay Bridge!
My only complaint is that I had to switch off my sub-woofer, as there is some stray low frequency noise, but once it was off the sound was excellent.
If you love Scotland and railways, this is one you must have!

This DVD contains an hour’s highlights from Video-125’s driver’s-eye view films. The excerpts combine views from the cab with the usual aerial and lineside shots. The new commentary for all four separate episodes is by Chris Denning.

These four episodes comprise the following. Firstly, from Glasgow to Fort William, and then by steam to Mallaig. The journey’s five-and-a-half hours is here reduced to twenty-five minutes. One of Video-125’s early films, the camerawork is a bit juddery.

The second extract is the long stretch from Edinburgh to Aberdeen. Our sample lasts ten minutes and teases by not showing the full crossing of the Forth and Tay Bridges. In fact, we jump directly between the two, leaving out all of Fife. The third episode also lasts ten minutes and takes us from Inverness to Wick and (separately) Thurso, whilst the last covers fifteen minutes of the line from Dingwall to the Kyle of Lochalsh.

As a taster, this DVD did its job, as I subsequently bought a couple of the full journey DVDs featured here.

This is the second time we have purchased this, the first one was a tape and we all loved and played it so much it had to be replaced with a DVD. So that says it all I think!
Our 3 year old Grandson now enjoys it too but not quite so much from the drivers eye view but I think he will in time.

If you love the Scottish highlands as we do, buy it!
