Synopsis

In Classical Tai Chi Sword, a martial arts master teaches the 50 basic positions of the Tai Chi sword. Easy-to-use diagrams, charts, and over 100 black and white photographs illustrate each position and the thirteen basic sword techniques. Practice exercises for both solo and partner forms teach inner harmony and self-defence. The authors are among the most prominent teachers of Tai Chi Chuan in Europe.

A beautifully-illustrated and well-conceived workbook for anyone wishing to learn Tai Chi Sword. Those who have a general interest in sword work will also find this appealing.
The research in this book is first rate and the instructive nature of the text is easy to follow.
Whichever style of Tai Chi you practice, you will find this book a boon.

Greatlittle book on the classical Yang style sword form. With a DVD or perhaps youtube videos to hand you could definitely teach yourself this form to a decent standard with a bit of hard work. This would be especially possible if you already practised Taiji and 'understand' what it's all about.
Highly recommended as a reference book or a learning aid. I particularly liked the arrow concept on the photos which work very well. This book fills in the blanks left out in Chen Weiming's book.

Sorry about the corny title ;-)
I bought this book as it promises simple information about the practical training aspects of Jian - the Chinese double-edge straight sword used in Taijiquan.

The book delivers. The information is as you would expect from a high-level practitioner of the Internal arts, factual and (no pun intended) to the point. If you want to expand your library this book is a worthy addition. If you wish to expand your knowledge then practice is the only way, but aided by essential viewpoints of different teachers it will be less illusive and more illuminating.

The authors (plural) are by Chiang Tao Chi (Author), Petra Kobayashi (Author), Toyo Kobayashi (Author), all accomplished students of the Arts to whom I would like to extend my thanks and sincere wishes for their time, dedication and unswerving efforts to preserve this knowledge.
