4.0 out of 5 stars Great collection 2 Mar 2011
By A. W. Wilson TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
My sincere thanks to the 2 reviewers who took the trouble to list and describe the 10 films in this collection, because if they hadnn't, as the 3rd "reviewer" states, how could you buy it? To business-Whilst none of these films could ever match a top budget "Alien/ET/Thing" type film they were never intended to and were made as supporting or double bill features (oh-remember them?), and in this they suceed well. I already had "Tarantula" and "Shrinking Man" from another superb collection, so that left 8 films some never seen by me, others not for many many years, and that actually has to be good value for money (approx 4 each not counting the 2 already got), add this to so far excellent prints and sound quality, and the unavailability of the films elsewhere and you have true VFM. Perhaps I could have done with a few more individual notes but that's a very minor quibble. 4 stars and nearly 5. This is an opportunity film/sci fi fans cannot afford to miss. (P.S. Do watch Monolith Monsters-not a great film, but rocks that are scary?? Oh yes!)

4.0 out of 5 stars Sci Fi Ultimate Collection, well could B! 10 Jan 2011
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Yeah there looks some pretty goood stuff in this box set dvd movies pack,
yet the thing is/ draw back slightly is the hefty price of thirty pounds,
I'm sure it would sell better at a more lower price.
But it's a fine collection of Sci Fi Movies, from the past, a magic golding time
long since past, so it's great to see these movies preserved for us lesser mortals
to watch again and again at our leisure.
I would like to see this box set pack sell well, fifteen pounds would seem more
of a better price, ultimately selling many more of them, and no doubt making more
profit in the long run, and further distributing the golding age of cinema for
the rest of the world to enjoy.
The USA made some fine, Sci Fi B movies and this box set is a rather good example
with its ten fine Sci Fi offerings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top quality prints of classic movies 11 Oct 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Ordered this from Amazon and it didn't arrived. Amazon were brilliant and immediately refunded my payment. Ordered the set from eBay and it was worth the wait.

I love old classic monster/horror/sci fi movies from the golden age of cinema. Other reviewers have covered the content in detail so all I'll add is a comment about the quality of the prints used. Quite simply they are pristine. Absolutely superb both in sound and picture quality. All prints have been fully restored. The oldest movie is Dr Cyclops which is also the only one in colour. I've seen prints before where the colour was washed out with predominantly green hues. Not anymore. The colours are vibrant and varied. A wonder to behold. Fans of King Kong will identify what makes this movie a companion piece to that 1933 classic.

If you love these movies and are considering adding this set to your collection all I can say is - buy it - you will not be disappointed.
