I got this coat well over a year ago, just before last winter arrived, and it was great. absolutely what I needed to get me through all the way to spring. The removable double layer is great, ensuring the wearer's warmed thoroughly. The high collar provides great protection for the neck, and the design is great for both ventilation and insulation.
But there are things that bug me about this coat. Why is there velcro on the inside to constantly catch on any long sleeved t-shirts or jumpers I may be wearing? Just what is the purpose of the flaps at the cuffs other than to maybe help protect better against wind sheer? Why is the concealed hood terrible at concealing itself, riding up and pinching the fabric turning me into Quasimodo? Why is the zipper so short? It barely covers my belly button!
I understand these jackets have been around for a while, but all things considered I'd have expected the design to have been refined by now!
That's not to say I don't like it; it is my default jacket to wear now 3/4s of the year. However I did end up making modifications such as covering the velcro inside the sleeve with an appropriate counterpart to stifle the snagging on my sleeves. I've also taken to rolling the concealed hood up in such a way that it doesn't completely fall down the gap between the inside layer and outside layer to ride up uncomfortably, but this does mean the collar will not fold down as evenly.
Overall it's a decent jacket, great for all weathers, but the strange design choices for me let it down.
