Clearly written and thoroughly illustrated. An excellent and interesting read, or ideal reference source for advise, help and tips. Covers the techniques involved for making any hat style. Includes detailed glossary and general advise for setting up in the millinery business. Full of useful information for anyone interested in making hats.

3.0 out of 5 stars Slightly disappointed, 27 Jan 2012
This review is from: Classic Millinery Techniques: A Complete Guide to Making and Designing Today's Hats (Hardcover)
This is a large format book of approx 140 pages originally published in 1998, so it's a large but very expensive book.

There are colour photographs of different hats at the start, but only black and white line drawings of instructions for the projects. This gives it a very out of date feel. Nor does it include techniques using sinnamay, or blocking felt on to a wooden hat block.

There are good instructions for sewn hats and turbans. However I am an amateur milliner and the pattern cutting looks very complicated.

Overall I don't think this is worth spending the money for amateur millinery.
