If you have any intention of providing your children or grand children with something worthwhile and educational you won't go far wrong in purchasing this little book. It is crammed with information and references about Classical Music and it provides references to obtaining the listed music by the various composers in order that the reader can listen to those pieces being discussed. A brilliant piece of literature for the kids.

Prokofiev: Peter and the Wolf / Saint-Saens: Carnival of the Animals We bought the book to give to various grandchildren and godchildren for Christmas, ended up buying a copy for ourselves too. It is fun, easy to read and brim full of unusual and entertaining facts. Anyone of any age will find something new and interesting. A brilliant gateway to the world of the classics. We have followed up for the 8 year olds, with 3 wonderful pieces to listen to and enjoy.

The book would benefit a great deal from the attached CD with all the tracks mentioned. Referring to iTunes and prompting parents to spend more money on downloads is just not thoughtful enough.
