It's been a while since Huey, Fast and Frank TRM were out and about. Huey seems to be a professional gent about town and media these days, so I guess he is keeping himself busy enough, but I'm glad that FLC have not slipped into oblivion.
Always carving their own quirky path through the musical world, Classic Fantastic sees the Crims take no significant step forward in stylistic approach or attitude. This set of songs contains the now familiar mix of seventies funkesque, Huey's trademark growling rap, and Fast's endless musical ingenuity, with loops, samples and clattering horns and thumping bass dominating the mix.
The song quality is a little variable overall, so I'd give it 3.5 stars (3.75?). The good stuff is great, classic FLC, deserving to be cranked up loud and bellowed along to, but it's not "100% Columbian" unfortunately.
Still a band that are very much worth listening to, and who I still keep coming back to.
