I've spent 4 years working in a dysfunctional, depressing, and downright soul destroying department and the only thing that has kept me sane is listening to smooth classics from classic FM. It blocks out the screams of supervisors taking out their unrelated problems on their minions, and the sounds of other employees slowly dying inside. It lowers my blood pressure and helps my sleep deprived, overworked, stressed out brain concentrate on the task at hand.... writing up my PhD thesis. Thank you classic FM. I may, in fact, dedicate my thesis to you!

The `smooth' title has been often used, but this is an inspirational choice of music, for its variety of relaxing tunes and a great line up of soloists including Nicola Benedetti, Bryn Terfel, Aled Jones, Julian Lloyd Webber, Renée Fleming, Lisa Gerrard, Vladimir Ashkenazy.
The orchestras include The Royal Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, City of Prague Philharmonic,
The conductors are Herbert von Karajan, Daniel Barenboim, John Eliot Gardiner and more.
Highly recommended.

This is a lovely album - very relaxing. However, when I looked at the leaflets in with the albums what was on the leaflets was not the same as what was on each album. This is not good enough from Classic FM so I have dropped the rating to 3 stars.

Classic FM - Smooth Classics Ultimate Collection CD
Enjoyable and worthwhile although possibly not such a popular selection of music as per previous Classic FM CD's.

Soft Centres
I am a listener to Classic FM and enjoy what I describe as the 'soft centres'. This collection of cd's is excellent value for money.

Excellent for winding down
My wife uses this for winding down after a hard day in the classroom. We have purchased several 'relaxing' CDs and she considers this one is the best one to date.
