If ever I was restricted to one CD compilation album of music, this would be the one I would select without a doubt. The 30 tracks on this double CD represent two and a half hours of listening pleasure that I never tire of, and the quality of the recordings is just superb. Two of my all-time favourite pieces of music are Sibelius' Intermezzo from the Karelia Suite and the fourth movement of Saint-Saens Symphony No:3 Organ [better known as the music to Babe or the Pig Music] and the versions of these on this double CD are the best that I possess [and I have spent some amount of precious funds on the Saint-Saens Organ Symphony!].
IMNSHO there should be a copy of this in every school's music library and now I wish that I had bought more than one copy for myself - I did buy two, but gave one away to a friend who thought it was wonderful !
