Product Description

Classic Cantabile Traditional Series TS-1Banjo

5-string Bluegrass Banjo from the Traditional Series!

The 5-string banjo is primarily used for bluegrass music to assume versatile rhythmic and harmonic tasks. It is usually played in a so-called "scruggs" style: Here the strings are plucked with the thumb and middle finger. In order to increase the volume when needed, finger picks can be used. The banjo can produce very percussive sounds when covered with a resonant head and can be incorporated into your personal music style in an extremely variable manner.

The common 5-string banjo tunings are gDGCD (modal) and gCGCD (double C), whereas the open tuning gDGHD is usually used for bluegrass.

The good workmanship and the low price make this banjo ideal for beginners but of course also for guitarists who are looking for new worlds of sound. The sound, the workmanship and the playability are truly unbelievable for a banjo in this price range.

The TS-1 Banjo is covered with an original REMO head and is completely closed. Therefore, it achieves a significantly better sound quality than most of the other instruments in this price range.

I wish that I had bought a different product. The banjo itself is not the best quality and there had obviously been no attempt to set it up since it left the manufacturer I didn't expect the strings to be the best quality but those supplied were less than poor (the first and fifth actually broke before they came up to pitch). Before I was able to try the banjo I had to purchase new strings. I looked up on Youtube about how to set it up and found that the neck was not securely fastened to the body and that lots of other bits were loose or incorrectly adjusted. After making some adjustments I have managed some small improvement but not enough to make me happy. I suppose that for a starter to learn on it is just about OK but that's all. I will use it for a while and then try to trade it for something better.
