It's said that Sinatra pioneered the concept album, and listening to this compilation you can see what that entailed. Any one of these three albums would be worth the cover price of this 3-CD set, but to have all three and then some is quite remarkable value for money. Most of the songs were standards by the fifties, it's a given that the accompaniments are superb, and Frank was in top form throughout. Having produced a cornucopia of delights, Avid tops it off with an 8-page liner which replicates the original sleeve notes, and sets out a full discography even though there is a disclaimer in respect of the personnel listings. This is a "must have" not just for for Sinatra fans, but for devotees of vocal excellence.
