5 Classic Albums Plus [Box set, Original recording remastered]

For all those who really, really want to find out what the contents of this box set are, please see track listing below. To summarise:

Disc 1 has volumes 1 and 2 of his originally released Specialty albums - volume 1 was actually titled "Here's Little Richard" when released.
Disc 2 has volume 3 of his Specialty albums, originally titled "The Fabulous Little Richard" - for further info on his Specialty albums have a look at their reviews. This disc also includes a few bonus tracks which are mainly live alternates of existing singles.
Disc 3 equates to two albums of his religious material which were released in 1960. I managed to pick the first of these up on vinyl many, many years back. While this stuff won't be everyone's cup of tea - he does get very "preachy" at times - I enjoyed most tracks. Even if this disc isn't so much to your liking there are still 3 others which are more than good enough to justify buying the set.
Disc 4 is Richard's pre-Specialty material which was originally all singles but, given that we are now in the PD world, is available on album from various suppliers. In general these tracks are less distinctive than the Specialty tracks but they are still very good examples of jump blues of the early '50's period.

In conclusion I would comment that this is an excellent way to get hold of Richard's Specialty material plus the pre-Specialty singles and you get the gospel material effectively thrown in for free given the price this set retails at. I don't own the set so I'm trusting the comments of other reviewers re sound quality plus the good reputation that Right Now have built up.

It seems that AMAZON want to sell their CD's but they hardly ever bother to provide track lists these days. Please, if you want us to buy your product, please make an effort to provide the potential buyer with the info you could get in a shop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All original recordings, good sound quality, little price. Little Richard IS rock'n'roll and these recordings are truly amazing. Highly recommended!
