Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis
"Seven Classic Albums"

Includes the albums
"Very Saxy (1959)",
Battle Stations (1960)",
"Tough Tenors (with Johnny Griffin) (1960)",
"Lookin' At Monk (with Johnny Griffin) (1961)",
"Blues Up & Down (with Johnny Griffin) (1961)",
"Touch Tenor Favorites (with Johnny Griffin) (1962)" and "Jawbreakers (with Harry Sweets Edison) (1962)".

There are 4CDs with minimal information and the whole shebang is housed in a double wide jewel case.

The Label: Real Gone Jazz has gained a lot of praise for the enhanced sound but the inlays give little information.

The main thing is that Amazon, at the time of writing, have not given us the track listing of the 42 tracks so here it is.
Just ignore the last track on CD 4 if you cut and paste

HASH(0x933f5558) out of 5 stars great classic jazz 6 Feb. 2014

You will never hear such music anymore. These tenor battle were mostly from the 50's and 60's. Eddie Lockjaw Davis and Johnny Griffin are AMAZING!! To me, they are giants, but to others, unknown jazz musicians. Why is that? Nobody at work listens to classic old school jazz or classical. I am the only one and work at Honda. These 4 CD's are incredible, 7 records from long ago. The first CD comes from 1959, when I was one year old. I hope others who love real jazz buy this.
HASH(0x933f5780) out of 5 stars Really good package, except... 28 Jan. 2016

4 Star for performance and transfer. Lively and tight rendering of these classics.

2 star for the annoying the way the tracks are split up (see picture). There's no reason why you can't put 2 records per 80 minute disc instead of placing pieces of albums like some sort of jigsaw puzzle throughout the package. Irresponsible and to be quite honest - lazy. This seems to be a real issue with a lot of these Real Gone Jazz titles.
