The third (and final) volume of Dave Brubecks classic albums gets there release on this colection of six Classic Albums.

Volumes one and two are really worth checking out.

8 Classics

The price is around the cost of just one so this is a bargain still despite the previous volumes having 8 albums on each.
They still manage to cram 50 tracks in total.

BUT Amazon have again failed to give us the all important track listing.

Often the CDs fail to note which album is on them.

The Real Gone Label release 100s of this type of collection at 'cheap as chips' prices.

There is minimal information and I have often found that it is only on the first CD of the set that actually lists the tracks as they play.

The 4 Cds are housed in a double wide jewel case. and that is about it.

BUT the label really put all their efforts into remastering the sound and, let's face it, most fair people would agree that is what counts in the end?

The six classic albums are
"Jazz Goes To College (1954)",
"Jazz: Red Hot And Cool (1955)",
"Bernstein Plays Brubeck Plays Bernstein (1961)", "Time Further Out (1961)",
"Countdown: Time In Outer Space (1962)" and
"Angel Eyes (1962)".

Track List:
[Disc 1]
Jazz Goes To College
1. Balcony Rock
2. Out Of Nowhere
3. Le Souk
4. Take The 'A' Train
5. The Song Is You
6. Don't Worry 'bout Me
7. I Want To Be Happy
Jazz: Red Hot And Cool
8. Lover
9. Little Girl Blue
10. Fare Thee Well, Annabelle

[Disc 2]
Jazz: Red Hot And Cool (cont.)
1. Sometimes I'm Happy
2.

Some classic albums and some albums off the beaten path 9 Aug. 2013
By Mike Tarrani - Published on Amazon.com
I own and have reviewed a number of these 'Classic Albums' sets, so I am going to start with my usual spiel, which applies to this one: The sound is excellent. I own a number of sets from this label and have been thoroughly pleased with each one. Audiophiles may complain, but for most of us this is an inexpensive way to obtain some classic (and not so classic) Dave Brubeck Quartet albums at an affordable price.

At the time of this review there is no track listing, nor are there sound samples on this page. I have linked to each of the albums in this set and have also provided discography information - something that this label is short on. On the linked album product pages are sound samples and some good reviews of each of the albums. It will also give you an opportunity to compare the cost of buying these albums individually versus this value-priced set. Here is what the set includes:
==========
DISC ONE
==========
The first seven tracks are the album titled Jazz Goes To College. Brubeck's piano and Paul Desmond's alto are backed by Bob Bates on bass and Joe Dodge on drums. All tracks were recorded live in May 1954. Tracks 1, 4, and 5 through 7 were recorded live at the University Of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Track 2 was recorded at the University Of Cincinnati and track 3 was recorded at Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH.

Final tracks on this disc and the first four on disc two are the album titled Jazz: Red, Hot And Cool. This album has the same line-up as the previous one. Tracks 8 and 9 were recorded in NYC on August 8, 1955 and track 10 at the Basin Street East in NYC on October 12, 1954.

Classic Jazz by one of the all time masters and American treasure Dave Brubeck 25 Jan. 2015

Now this one I already had a couple of these albums but I have been looking for Angel Eyes for a few years now and now it is part of my collection along with a few others I didn't have. I love these collections of albums by a great jazz artist what a great way to build your collection. Here we have one of the greatest American treasures the one and only Dave Brubeck. Here it is the wonderful Dave Brubeck group that also included the greatest alto sax player Paul Desmond along with Joe and Eugene. One of the best jazz groups along with Miles Davis that defined an era. Dave explored time in music and really opened it up for everyone. It is wild to be dancing around in 9/8 or 5/4 time as if it is normal, really normal is so over rated anyway. This is such a great collection to be able to get six really great albums for the price of one, what a deal.
