My bible!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Classic 1000 Low-fat Recipes (Paperback)
I just had to write a review for this book as it has turned into my cooking bible! I have been trying to eat more healthily by cutting down on fat, but looking for an interesting way to do it, and I came across this book so bought it. I don't know what a low fat eater would do without it! Many recipes in a lot of books are quite often very fancy, take a lot of ingredients and take too long to do, not what us busy people need. We all like to be adventurous but not after a hard days work! This book is a godsend, it contains everyday recipes that are simple and often not time consuming, and are delicious! Not what I expected from a low fat book at all. I now eat more healthily and more interestingly than I have ever done, and in a couple of months I lost loads of weight too, with no effort and eating gorgeous food! The only reason this book did not get 5 stars is, as the other reviewer said, it only gives calorific content, not fat content! Bit daft really for a low fat book, but you can easily work out the fat content if you have a fat counter book, and judging from my results they are all low in fat! Best cook book I've ever come across!

Good varied recipes,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Classic 1000 Low-fat Recipes (Paperback)
I was very surprised to find a low fat recipe book that didn't actually list the fat content of each recipe although it did give the calorie content and a fibre rating of low, medium or high. There are some useful low fat cooking techniques at the beginning and varied recipes.

Useless,
By Greycat "druid_cat" (Derby, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Classic 1000 Low-fat Recipes (Paperback)
This is the second book from this range that I have tried, and the same results come from both. Both ingredient ratios and cooking temperatures have been wildly out of proportion, resulting in ruined dishes. The 'low-fat' claim of the cover is true - if you substitute low-fat alternatives to sugar, butter etc, you will get the same results with a regular cookbook, and likely more successful than this. Thoroughly useless.
