3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but not good enough to buy, 19 Sep 2007
As you've gathered this GN follows Wolverines part in the Civil War saga. I agree with the review above, the art is too light and colourful for is without doubt one of the darker Civil war stories. That said i though the story was quite good, the one thing i always wondered when i read the main civil war graphic novel (which is a must have Trade or HC) was well whos going to go after nitro then? And befitting of Wolverines arrogance and lethal brand of justice, he's the one to go off and give Nitro whats coming to him for the Stamford disaster.
All in all not a bad story, but i can only really recommend this to die hard Wolverine fans or someone like me who didn't buy it, but rented it from the library and read it. There are much better civil war tie ins out there (Iron man- excellent, new avengers- great, Captain America- great) which is why this gets 3 out of 5.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty and pointless and silly, 17 Jun 2007

Humberto Ramos is a pretty good artist, BUT his work is too cartoony for wolverine whose storues are often gritty and hard edged. so apart from the style the art is good.
Shame about the writing. The basic idea is sound, the mer folk want revenge for the death of their princess (namorita who was killed in civil war) Wolverine gets caught up in it and goes to solve the situation. Problem is the story comes off as cheesy with a couple of really bad ideas. wolverine in ironman armour. sigh.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not too shabby, 6 April 2009

A well written addition to Civil War.
Whereas Civil War is a reasonably interesting idea - the argument for registration is never articulated as well as the argument against. The references to extreme right wing politics is well observed, but Tony Stark only comes as a bully.
So the contribution of Mark Guggenheim here is excellent - adding interesting layers to Civil War. I disagree that Humberto's work is too cartonny - it works well in his work in Revelations, Crimson and Out There. The art is clear and eay to follow - Enjoy!!
