Excellent - a real grower,
By
This review is from: City of Walls (Audio CD)
This is the third album I've listened to that has involved Paul Mounsey, the first being Proterra (runrig with PM), then NahooToo. As with each of these, the first listen will not sell the album to you. By the third or fourth, you've picked up the theme, the recurring hooks, the tweaks and subtle twists, and you're hooked. Mounsey doesn't throw together a track here, a track there - he puts together a full album that flows from start to finish, with just the right balance of rapids and meanders, and always brings you to an ending - just ready to go through the whole ride again. Perfect in the foreground, the background, and even the middle ground - an excellent CD.

Exciting music,

Almost unknown and greatly underrated, Paul Mounsey produces some of the most exciting music I've ever heard. Each album is better than the previous one: the music is full of life, energy and exuberance - gorgeous celtic melodies delivered in a latin style, with instrumentation to die for. 'City of Walls' is his best yet - why is this artist so unappreciated?

Soul stirring stuff,

I ask the same thing as reviewer Malcom. This CD is absolutely fantastic, heart racing, soul stirring, music. If I'm getting tired driving this CD wakes me up within two minutes - can't listen to it without becoming engrossed. Most music doesn't really engage me, but Paul Mounsey's gets right inside. The only criticism I have of his earlier CDs is that each was eclipsed by the next. I keep coming to Amazon to see if there's a new release.
