City Rats is not quite the film I was expecting after seeing the DVD cover, but it is still a great independent British movie that works on so many levels.
The film follows a group of separate characters over the course of one day as they all come to terms with key moments in each of their lives (a wannabe suicide, a lonely prostitute, a man trying to escape his gangster background etc). The story lines are all very engaging, and the acting is first-rate throughout, especially from Danny Dyer who shines in a role that doesn't exactly show him in the most sympathetic light.
If you're in the mood for a fresh, thoughtful and intelligent new Brit-flick, this is the one for you...
