Sniper: Ghost Warrior is a first-person tactical shooter that features game mechanics based primarily on realistic covert actions of a military sniper. Combat is mission-based and centers on extended stealth gameplay that challenges players with a variety of strategic and tactical choices that affect how they approach their objectives and eliminate their targets. Sniper gameplay is designed to be realistic, with the player required to cooperate with their AI spotter for pinpointing of targets, maintain heart beat and breathing control -- especially after running -- for maximum accuracy and performance and develop expertise with four types of sniping rifles: AS50, MSG90, SR25 and SVD Dragunov. Players in sniping situations also must deal with conditions such as wind, fog and rain that will test even the most skilled of shooters. Additional features include multiplayer support, a slow-motion Bullet Cam Mode, an arsenal of explosive weaponry like Claymore mines and C4 explosives to defend your perimeter when and/if your position is discovered or to demolish enemy outposts, melee weapons like throwing knives for close, quiet kills and the additional ability to cooperate with a hard-charging assault team member bent on up-close and personal firefights.

"Are we shooting people ?" That line from the film Three Kings kept running through my head as I tried to play this utterly awful first person shooter. At its heart Sniper has taken one particular role, which you have always been able to play in games like Call of Duty and Battlefield Bad Company, and created a game just about being a sniper. You would have thought that with that concentration on just that one role they would have been able to come up with something better.

I don't claim to be an expert on snipers in the military but I've read a few books which cover the subject and this is how snipers operate as I understand it. Modern snipers operate in teams of two with one shooter and one spotter. They sneak carefully into position making sure to avoid detection and draw a bead on a particular predetermined target. Once they have a positive identification of the target they fire, one shot, one kill. They then relocate to avoid detection and make their way back to friendly lines.

Here's how it works in Sniper Ghost Warrior. You are pretty much on your own, no spotter, and not even a pair of binoculars to help identify targets with. You have no sneak mode so staying in cover pretty much depends on hoping you can't be seen because you are standing in a bush. There are three stances - standing, crouched and prone, but occasionally you might have to stand up and jump over a small branch that for some reason is impassable. Following objective markers which are inevitably in the middle of open ground you work your way right through the middle of an army camp to get to where you are going. You shoot every single guard you see, because if you don't they invariably spot you and raise the alarm.

I have been playing this Game from its day of release, overall it is very enjoyable and very good value for Money.

1) Graphics..Very nice Graphics,Very detailed enviroments, and for a Budget Title these have been rendered very well. Some of the more well known developers could learn a few lessons here.THQ and Bethesda take note..

2) Gameplay..Single player.I am playing on the Hard setting, this game can become very addictive, and is very immerssive as you make your way towards enemy instalations and personel.A very nice touch is the Kill Cam,which kicks in when you enter concentration Mode and your aim is Spot on..time slows down and you watch your Bullet leave the Rifle barrel, and travel towards the Target, finally striking and killing it...all in gorgeous Slo Mo.The Enemy AI is very good, and in the Hard mode you Will be detected and killed very quickly if you dont utilise every scrap of cover and your stealth abilities. The Games controls are simple to learn and use and soon become second nature to use.

3) Multiplayer..A few Gripes here.I found the Multiplayer slightly frustrating, joining Games is fairly quick, but inviting your Mates in to the Game is a pain, they will frequently lose your server. To date i havent managed to place one friend in my team.Once in a Multiplayer Game the Enviroments are again very good, plenty of places to hide out and pick of your victims. No kill cam in the multiplayer,so you dont know where you have been sniped from.Running around like a headless chicken as many do in MW2 will simply get you killed time and time again. The secret of the Game is Stealth and Patience and choosing the right weapon for the Level.

All in all the Game is a very enjoyable and as i said before good value for Money.I have more well known titles in my Game collection, but this Game will keep you coming back for more.Enjoy.

Well, this is a guilty pleasure. BAM! Right in the face! SPLAT! Blew him out of his hat. BOOM! Down and to the left. It's surprising (and maybe a little worrying) just how much fun Sniper: Ghost Warrior is. That's got nothing to do with the plot, which has all the heft and gravitas of a mid-'90s Dolph Lundgren straight-to-video movie. You're a soldier. There are jungles, some bad men and an improbably sexy sounding woman in your ear. And chickens, which I executed indiscriminately in case there was a trophy for poultry slaughter. There isn't one. But I'm getting to like the feathery explosions.

Imagine every sniper level from every shooter, rolled into one game. There are stealthy bits, levels where you have to defend a supporting team from a distance, stand-offs where you thin out enemies from a high vantage point - just about every permutation of 'shooting people from far away'. The reward for a head shot is a glorious slo-mo bullet cam that tracks from muzzle to brainpan, with an enthusiastic splash of blood as the victim bucks and twists from the impact.

Unlike most shooters, this adds realistic bullet physics. Played on normal, a handy red dot shows you where the bullet will land while a reaction system lets you slow time to guarantee a hit. Shooting increases your heart rate and decreases you time slowing abilities - a clever touch that forces you to take a 'one shot, one kill' style. You stop blasting like a mad man and start hunting. It's a one trick pony for sure, but it's a good trick. And if it was actually a budget game, rather than just feeling like one, it would be more strongly recommended.
