I was browsing and came across a one star review for my hero Matt James's book and I stopped by to read it. I really don't agree with the previous reviewer. This isn't a book for lazy readers; it's full of really classy ideas about the different kinds of outdoor spaces we all have. It's the kind of book to curl up on the sofa with, and have a browse, and let ideas form in your head. I like Matt's intimate style - for me he gets right into the heart and soul of what it could be all about for young people who want to get into some seriously stylish gardening. And up to now gardening has been directed at older people and 'Gardener's World' types where it all seems like loads of hard work and not enough style. So it's nice to feel that someone is actually writing for a younger readership. Sure, it isn't ABC writing, it's a book about inspiration and ideas and getting you to think about the garden you have and what you could do with it. What Matt does - and he used to do this on his T.V. progs aswell, is to make you feel he's really on your side, that no matter how rubbish you think your garden is it can be rescued. (Wish he'd rescue mine!!) The only thing I don't really like about the book is the title because I'm sure there's lots more to say about the subject and the word bible rather implies that it's all been said.
