I am not sure how much verbiage there is on citrix edocs in regards to MDM but I can quite imagine that its pretty substantial - ok, just checked - its 883pages! so with that in mind if you want to get a POC up and testing then this will help al lot. Its good that people take time out to actually put together something like this to help the community - without them we would be perusing through 100's of pages of blurb to get something like a simple pilot up and running - so for me, yes its well worth the money

Citrix XenMobile Mobile Device Management consists of 10 chapters which although is relatively short it does make for an ideal companion book. It starts with deployment and prerequisite guidelines and then on to other chapters regarding component deployments for Citrix NetScaler, Mobile Device Manager and AppController.

The only downside to this book is the timing as the content is based upon XenMobile 8.5 and includes products that have now been updated with bug fixes and feature improvements. Also anyone who is has access to Citrix partner content would find similar documentation available.

Overall the material delivered within this book allows Citrix professionals to understand and make informed design decision, and for that I would recommend this to anyone who has limited experience using or deploying Citrix technologies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great reference on XenMobile from Citrix. 19 Mar 2014
By Todd D Smith - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I recently had the opportunity to read and provide comment on the latest book on Citrix technologies by Akash Phoenix, “Citrix XenMobile – Mobile Device Management” published by Packt Publishing. This book takes the reader on a journey, from understanding the technology, to easy to follow steps to install, configure, and troubleshoot the XenMobile solution.

It is a quick read, but packed with useful information, not only in the descriptions, but also the illustrations. I was looking for something that would provide me with valuable information without having to sift through all of the Reference Architectures, Design Guides, eDocs, and blog posts. Not only is the book packed with helpful hints and tips, it explains the technology in real terms.

In the current paradigm, where information is readily available, but really disorganized, this book is a huge help. I truly believe the book will be a great asset to any Citrix technology library and would recommend it to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to read starters guide 27 April 2014
By Jack - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I had the opportunity to review this book published by Packt Publishing.

This book takes you through the installation and configuration of all necessary products and explains it in great detail (with pictures and clear text). Also some really basic troubleshooting steps are provided in the small but very easy to read book.

If you don't have any understanding of Citrix XenMobile Device Management this is a must have to start with. Every step is clearly explained and detailed what to configure. For the more experienced Citrix XenMobile admin this book can be too easy and misses the depth for advanced troubleshooting.

4.0 out of 5 stars XenMobile Review 22 Mar 2014
By Jordan G - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Overall, I was very satisfied with this book. I appreciated it's usefulness for deploying the XenMobile solution. I thought it was clear, concise, and easy to follow. The pictures were a great help as well and provided enough detail for me to configure this in my home lab.

I would have liked more detail around the policies and some features as they correlate to their use case in an MDM environment. All in all, worthy of a 4 star review.

Looking forward to reading future release especially for the 8.7 XenMobile release and later.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good beginners guide to Citrix MDM 27 Mar 2014
By Carl Behrent - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I recently reviewed this book, as I currently only have minimal MDM experience I found this book a good starting point for our upcoming MDM implementation.
It was very easy to read and well laid out and found it similar to reading Citrix documentation.

Would be good to see a more advanced version in the future.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book to start learning XenMobile 28 April 2014
By Daniele Tosatto - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
XenMobile is the Mobile Device Management solution provided by Citrix: it is integrable with NetScaler, AppController, StoreFront, ShareFile and other Citrix products allowing corporates to manage mobile devices.

The book consists of 112 pages and 10 chapters: it starts with an introduction to Xen Mobile solution and provides you with a general overview of the core components. Next chapters explains you how to install and configure Xen Mobile integrating it with Netscaler and Active Directory.
Last chapters gives you details about mobile device enrollment, applications and policies management.

This book has especially been written to guide you through the basic installation: for this reason, the book is written for who want to familiarize themselves with MDM.
As I told before, the book is about 112 pages so do not expect it covers all! For example, troubleshooting chapter is only a page: in my opinion, author had to spend more on this section…
If you are a Citrix Professional not expect this book is not a technical reference guide.

Nevertheless, the book is well-written and rich in screenshots that explain you the basic installation and configuration: a good read if you want to start approaching XenMobile.
