Amazon.co.uk Review

If you are thinking about setting up a thin-client networking solution based on Citrix's popular MetaFrame technology and know little about MetaFrame now, Citrix MetaFrame for Windows Terminal Services will make your day. More experienced and knowledgeable MetaFrame engineers will probably find this book lacking in expert-level tricks and techniques. Read this volume for the fundamentals; turn to other books (such as Todd Mathers's excellent Windows NT/2000 Thin Client Solutions: Implementing Terminal Services and Citrix MetaFrame) for deeper wisdom.

After providing a primer on Windows Terminal Services and the design of Citrix's thin-client solution, the book approaches MetaFrame work as a consultant might. It walks through the design issues presented by an organisational MetaFrame implementation (also known as a corporate application service provider, or corporate ASP), and helpfully provides you with ammunition to use against standard objections (single point of failure, dependence on the network and so on). Then it discusses the implementation challenges of specific corporate ASP requirements, such as file services, printing capability, application sharing, and different user profiles. Text explanations are enhanced via conceptual diagrams, stepped procedures, lists of Registry settings, and script listings. --David Wall

Excellent book that I read very quickly and which provided great help when implementing a Citrix solution. I still regularly refer to it even though the project has completed. It is not really a technical support manual but a "best practice" manual.

I bought this book hoping to learn more about Citrix Metaframe and Windows Terminal Server. What i got was a book that I couldn't put down. Very easy reading ; explained when to use Terminal Services and how to use it. It doesn't go into the real nitty gritty of technical solutions but then you can get these answers on Microsofts Technet or on Citrix's web site. Very good and probably the best book on the market about Citrix and Terminal Services.

A Project-based look at Citrix 16 Oct 2000
By gradelman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
In a time when we can all pick up a book with sputterings of bits and bytes on technology comes one that actually embraces the processes involved to achieve a successful integration. By no means is this the end all be all of references for a Citrix installation, but then again, does any book? This is a must read for the experienced engineer or project manager who would like to streamline and simplify their processes (and optimization skills)as well as the newbie who wants to begin his implementations right foot forward.

Recipe for Success with Citrix 10 Aug 2000
By Sean Finley - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I wish this book was available when I went through a Citrix implementation, it would have saved me a great deal of time. I found it very helpful an think that it is a must for anyone considering a similar move. Some of the information contained in the book could only be authored by someone who has experience with this type of product in general and Citrix in particular.

Excellent... 16 Oct 2000
By Walter Betson Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I don't know what book the first 2 "Very Generic" people were reading... This book has ever important registry edit, and fix that I spent the last 3 years documenting. Where was this book 3 years ago?? If you are implementing a Citrix Environment, or you are "tuning" and existing environment, this is "the" book.
