The watch receives time signals from five signal stations located in four regions viz. Europe, N. America, China and Japan, and within these regions it automatically adjusts the time and date. The window at nine o'clock is a signal reception indicator, whilst the small one between four and five o'clock is a daylight saving indicator. Manual override is available of DST, time and date when one is in a place where the automatic signal cannot be picked up. When necessary, the watch is operated by one screw down crown and two recessed buttons for which a wooden tooth pick is required. To date, I have not needed to touch the watch as it has consistently shown the correct date and time accurate to the second from the moment I opened the box in which it was delivered. Citizen warn that the watch can be affected by static electricity, magnetic items and shock, and there are places such as inside reinforced concrete buildings and near high tension electrical lines, where reception of the time signal may be difficult. The manufacturer also state that the time signal has no affect on the human body or medical equipment, which was a feature that I was initially concerned about.

I like the watch because it is well-designed; its time keeping is precise; and it will automatically adjust the time in countries I normally visit.

This is a great watch - even better if you travel a lot. There are a lot of features and settings you can change, but in practice, you don't need to. The watch sets the date and time and automatically adjusts for daylight saving time.
Changing time zone is a doddle - pull the crown out 1 stop, turn the crown so the second hand is pointing at the city you want, then watch the hour hand wizz round to the correct time. Simples.
The glow in the dark hands and markers are an unusual (but attractive) blue colour - not like the green we used to have on watches.
The strap is soft leather and some reviewers have criticised this. I think they miss the point - the soft leather narrows as it extends away from the watch and is very easy to put on as a result. My previous watch had a strap that was wide and stiff and putting it on was like wrestling an octopus (don't ask...)
Some light faced watches can be difficult to read but this works well and the white on black date marker is clear.
Although not the cheapest watch, this does represent terrific value. Most other radio-controlled watches only use the signal in their home country, but this one connects to four transmitters around the world - Japan, China, Germany & USA, so the time is bob on wherever you go. I don't think many other watches have the semi-automated time zone changer either. If you are pondering this purchase, I hope this review will tip the balance for you!

When it arrived I took it from the box and immediately the hands whizzed round until it had set itself to the correct time. It is more accurate than the BBC DAB radio time signal, of course. I've only had it a few days but so far it does what exactly what a watch should do - tell the right time. It looks good too.

I have had eco-drive watches before - 2 over 14 years - and been very happy with them. This however is the best yet, stylish, well made and extremely good value for money. It works straight our of the box, never needs winding or adjusting and displays the accurate time and date anywhere, at least anywhere I am likely to travel (I think it might struggle to get a signal at the poles!). I am a very happt buyer.

I bought this model in a high street shop where Casio radio controlled watches were displayed alongside Citizen radio controlled watches. The watch was not set to the correct time when I bought it.I set the watch via the manual and it corresponded with my,already owned Casio radio controlled watch and Bedroom Higlo radio conrtolled digital clock.Unfortunately the display on the Citizen watch indicated no radio signal reception later in the day..and the next day...and the next day.The bedroom clock and Casio watch were indicating full reception during that time and kept in sync, the Citizen did not.
Returned to the shop,I noticed the Citizen radio controlled watches on display were not displaying the correct radio time, varying among their group, the Casio's however were correct and in exact sync with my wristwatch. The citizen watches are meant to sync everyday, you cannot disable this feature,so should display the same time,German radio time,as the Casio's.
The Citizen radio controlled watches I have observed have poor radio receivers at a premium price. The cheaper Casio's,in my experience, are very reliable,no fuss timepieces,as is my Higlo bedroom digital clock(£20 when I bought it years ago.)
I received a full refund for the malfunctioning Citizen.
Make sure you are purchasing a radio controlled watch, not a quartz watch with a poor receiver.

Beautiful looking time piece, looks smart on leather band, stands out.Luminescence really good, bright and clear to see in the dark. The case of watch has a nice quality feel and comfortable weight to it.Radio control works perfectly.,Noticed one review critical of time keeping.cannot agree with that review. This watch is perfect and always shows correct time. The face of watch is nice and large, easy to read display.Love the sword type second hand and the gold batons of the hour markers reflect brightly. The crown of watch is well protected by raised shoulders of case, only wish they put their Citizen emblem on crown of winder to add slight more style to watch. The adjuster buttons are recessed into case so it cannot be adjusted by accident.,Which means you have to use a pointed instrument to adjust time and date in different countries if signal cannot be received.(as this watch can be manually adjusted)which is not difficult to do once you are used to watch. The band width is 22mm, so plenty of watch straps available if you want to change to a gold bracelet or other type of watch strap.Overall this is a really smart looking time piece which oozes quality and style that will not break the bank account. A clever little Citizen.
