This is a precise piece of Engineering. It has a head start on other watches in this price range that it doesn't require a battery but recharges itself from exposure to any kind of light source (daylight of artificial). Read the manual or follow the step by step set up instructions on the DVD it couldn't be easier. The Perpetual Calender means that when setting up the watch as long as you know when the next leap year is that not only do you not need a battery but you also never need to worry about winding the date forward when a month is only 30 days long. The second hand and the minute hand are co-ordinated, the minute hand moves 4 times a minute and when the second hand clicks on to complete a minute you don't have to worry about alignment. The date and the day click over spot on midnight with the day hand winding on 4 times bringing the correct date. There is a choice of 4 different coloured facias, mine is the the black background with gold features the best of the four (obviously in my opinion). Given the number of features on this watch it couldn't be more straightforward. A good and precise time piece well worth it, buy it you wont be disappointed
