5.0 out of 5 stars No more battery changes - I hope!, 12 May 2010

This review is from: Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Black Leather Watch #BM8240-03E (Watch)
After once more having to change my watch battery (not Citizen)which is supposed to last 10 years! I decided to invest in an Citizen 'Eco-drive' watch. It arrived in the stated time, was well packed and has worked straight out of the box with no need to charge it first. It did need to be adjusted for the time and day/date. Note the adjusting knob is very smooth and polished and difficult to grip. Now set I have not needed to use it except to change the date for BST. It keeps good time.
The best watch I ever had was a Citizen mechanical chronograph watch with lots of functions; however it was irrepairably damaged during a 'service' many years ago. Looking at the prices of an equivalent watch today they are way out of my price range.

5.0 out of 5 stars An engineer's dream watch, 12 Aug 2011
This review is from: Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Black Leather Watch #BM8240-03E (Watch)
As a retired design engineer I think this watch meets all the requirements. It looks even better in reality than in the photo with its neat understated design. It's light, just the right size, never needs a battery and will keep going for six months even if kept in a drawer. Like nearly all Japanese products(and I have a Japanese motorbike, car and most electronic goods)it must be reliable because Citizen gives a 5 year warranty. Why spend a fortune on a Swiss mechanical "timepiece" which will never be as accurate or reliable as one of these? (I speak as one who has a Certina and a Favre-Leuba from the 1960s)
