My wheels wont go around!.... 4 Oct 2011

As I travel to Europe by those low cost airlines with restricted luggage allowances, I purchased two of these cases as they weigh just over 3kg each (the large ones), they came to me well packed and looked very smart. However, upon packing one of the cases the lining split away from the frame. I then travelled from Leeds to Nice (on the Friendly airline!), on arrival at Nice I found my wheels would not go around! They had all twisted and buckled. I don't know what the maximum weight that one of these cases will carry, but my case weighed just under 18kg.

Take no notice of the guarantee as it does not cover for damage caused by the airline...well 5 Cities will say it is the airlines fault.

Not happy at all!

Lightweight it may be, but this 25" item is unfortunately not fit for purpose. The first time we used it, (within 3 weeks of purchase) the plastic assembly at the base of the suitcase - which incorporates two square feet to enable the case to stand upright together with a grip handle - snapped.

The guarantee offers repair or replacement against defects and calls for the case to be returned to the seller, but does not mention refund of return charges. As I had already recycled the delivery box I decided the cost of return would have outweighed the benefit of receiving a replacement which, due to the weakness of the plastic assembly, could well suffer the same defect.

A pity, because the suitcase itself seems to be well made.
