The Cisco RV110W is an excellent piece of hardware. It has a huge number of settings which are not easy for the less experienced to understand.
The VPN setup actually changes the access address from 192.168.1.1 to something completely different (I'm not telling you what, its private).
The remote machine needs Cisco software downloaded and installed for VPN (Mac or Win7), and ours needed the remote router settings adjusted to get the VPN accessed.
Once you have mastered the settings, performance is as good as anything at the price.

This is by far the best router I have bought. Got it for home and for my business. First thing I noticed is the speed of the web interface for configuring it, much faster than any of the usual Netgear/Dlink home routers where you make a configuration change and wait quite a while to hear back from the router. The configuration interface is slick and really easy to set up port forwarding. Wireless range isnt the best so I had to get an extra wifi access point to get wifi for all 3 floors of my house and garden, but everything about it is excellent and I would definitely recommend this/

Having wasted several days of my life and still failed to install a cheaper TP router, I cut my losses and bought this unit instead. It does what it says with 4 ports and multi-SSIDs.

It offers a vast array of access and security options which should suit nearly everyone. The signal strength seems no better or worse than other units but the availability of range extenders should mitigate any issues there.

There was one problem, which is fundamental but simple to overcome - the instructions quote an incorrect IP address for setup. This wasted 3 hrs but tech support soon spotted it. For my network the IP began with 10.

Overall an excellent unit and worth the extra money.

Pros are;
Simple to setup basic functions
You can create up to 5 VLAN'S
Wireless signal strength is the same as a BT hub 3
Cisco quickvpn works as long as you read the instructions from Cisco's website (namely turn on remote management)
It is made by Cisco
Comes with an on/off button

Cons;
The instructions give you the wrong private IP address (From memory I think the router default address is 10.10.10.1) not the 192.x.x.x as stated.
Doesn't work on BT (multi-static) public IP network addresses(unless you use 3 routers all together for example Cisco RV110W plugged into Netgear WGR614 plugged into BT business hub) No other settings work including bridging.
Very basic Software settings (hence needing 3 routers to do 1 routers job)

I was experiencing severe problems with the superhub provided by my ISP. Frequent drops in signal strength, poor range not covering the entire ( small) house.
Now I have perfect wifi service thanks to this Cisco product.

If you are fed up with calling ISP call centres, this could be the answer to your problems.

I purchased this unit to work with our virgin media modem/router so we could VPN back into our network. Initial setup was easy although it likes strong passwords for everything! I was hoping to use the Cisco quickvpn client but couldn't get this to connect at all. In the end I used the PPTP option and set up the VPN client within windows, couldn't have been easier and worked first time.

On the whole good features for the money and so far still working well.

The only fault with this router is a minor and known bug in the setup software which displays DHCP as being on even when it is switched off. Hardly a problem as any sensible user would know if they had the service on or off anyway as they are either using static IPs or dynamic. Not something one would forget. Perhaps an update will fix it one day although it does not seem likely.
Other than that, this device does exactly what it is supposed to do and I have not needed to reboot it for months (it is permanently on). Neither the device or the power unit get excessively hot. I use this on a 35Mb/s FTTC broadband line in a rural area. (The speed is a function of my distance from the cabinet - 700 metres by road - however far by a mix of overhead and underground cables.)
