purchased this router after continued problems with my netgear which needed reset about 4 times a day especially when streaming or downloading.
this router has been solid, not a single reset since it was installed.
installation was very easy with a simple walkthrough from teh install CD/software
i have xbox (wired), Wii, 2 laptops and phones all set up and have not had a single issue.
deffinitely recommended.

I bought this as a replacement for a Netgear wirless router which was reliable but rather slow. The e2000 is fast in comparison and is one of the fastest routers available for home / small office use. When I got it up and running there was at least a 50% increase in speed with the e2000.

However, the e2000 is not as easy to set up as the Netgear. I recommend that you do not install the software that comes it with, but configure the router via the web interface. That said, I found this interface unintuitive to use and missing certain expected features such as the ability to show what devices are currently connected.

The basic set up was simple enough, but I found that I had and still have problems with this unit that I did not have with the Netgear. These are the problems on the e2000 that I encountered:

1) Sometimes a client cannot obtain an ip address from the router after connecting wirelessly, and thus is not able to get access to the Internet.

2) Sometimes the wireless speed drops to less than 0,5 Mbits/second.

3) I could not, and still cannot, connect to my PC from outside my home via remote desktop via the e2000.

The first problem can sometimes be solved by re-installing an updated driver on the client's onboard wireless network device - if you can find one. if you using a Vista client expect trouble, and if it's an old machine then you'll be hard pressed to find a compatible driver. Even after updating the drivers, the firmware and everything, and the problem is apparently fixed, the problem will still mysteriously come back sometimes of its own accord, hang around for a while, then disappear again! I haven't yet discovered the logic behind this frustrating problem.

I purchased this router because it was awarded second in the which best buy report, second only to apples' 138 pound router. The router wasn't too difficult for a novice to install, once I had worked out how to successfully navigate the microsoft update web pages to install the latest versions of internet explorer and windows xp. Once installed the router worked brilliantly- consistent fast speed, never losing connection and with a range of about 50 metres. The only problem occured when workmen had to turn off the electricity temporarily and afterwards I couldn't connect to the internet with my ipod (the only device I am using with the router). After I contacted the lynksys technical support team, who were very helpful, I discovered that I had to manually change the channel that the router was set to. Afterwards, the problem was resolved. Once again since, for no apparent reason I had to change to another channel, and again this resolved the problem instantly and it has been working fine since. All in all, great product, easy for a novice to install, consistent high speed and decent range and good technical support.

The router installed very easily. I simply followed the instructions and having installed the software the rest was easy.
The router has been running for a while and wireless download speeds are better than I expected. The wired speeds are
similar to before ( this unit replaced a linksys wrt54g ).

I purchased this router after returning an unsatisfactory Netgear router, which frequently failed to connect, or dropped out. It was simplicity itself to set up, the only thing I had to do was to change the password. (The Netgear set-up involved much more work, probably not helped by the unit being faulty. To their credit, the Netgear technical boys did their best to sort out the problem, but they failed after three telephone calls lasting a total of almost two hours.)
I would purchase from Linksys again, largely due to the uncomplicated set-up, given that I am not a computer buff.

I was suspicious because it has no aerials but this router turned out to be the best I've ever owned. The signal is strong in the whole house, I can even still get a signal outside in the garden or in my garage! And it doesn't seem to need resetting regularly like my previous router either. All that from something that looks nice, pretty great. Very happy.

Sadly the software did not load for this product resulting in my trying to return it.
Whilst the company concerned did return my money eventually they were tardy in communicating and disingenuous in their management of the process of returns. Horses for course.
I would not use them again. They also requested having taken several emails to sort this that I change my review to reflect the positive outcome.
i guess it depends on how much time you have for this kind of thing
