If like me you learn quickest by way of practice exams, then this book will be a useful aise to passing your CCIE routing and switching. With the help of this book I passed the exam after just 3 weeks study.

On the down side there is little in the way of explanatory notes to accompany the questions, and the notes that are included are very high level and do not cover the full syllabus. (answers to questions are provided, with some explanations).

Be aware that Cisco are about to update the CCIE routing and switching exam (my guess is that they'll be including Simulator and drag and drop questions and including newer technologies). Only buy this book if you are intending to go for the 350-001 exam in the next few months.

Best for the money so far 7 Jan 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I have purchased other CCIE study guides that state they cover the 350-01 written exam and they don't measure-up to this book. If you have to purchase one CCIE 350-01 book, make this the one you buy.

Could have been better if not because of errors and typos 21 Jan 2002
By A. Jeng - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I bought this book because of all the positive reviews posted here. After reading past through half of the book (4 out of 5 chapters), I soon discovered some serious editorial and authoring inconsistencies and errors.

1. Typos plague the whole book from main text to Q&A - particularly true in the answer sections of the book where you need right answers the most.

2. Inconsistencies between text and Q&A. For example, the main text of Chapter 3 mentions nothing about BGP. All of the sudden, the Q&A has about 15 questions. (That's 15%!).

3. Serious editorial errors. In page 221, Table 3-7, there is a note for author that reads "Author: please supply table title". And the title says "Need Chapter Title"

These are just some of the problems I have been running so far. I will continue to read the book to the end though. The CD that comes with the book seems to contain the same questions as the Q&A sections of the book. The software engine is not as good as the one from Cisco Press in usefulness.

I learned some new things from the book (even though I am already a CCNP), but this book has a lot room for improvement. I really feel the author and the publisher are seriously irresponsible in trying hard to rush the product to market.

Excellent practice tests. 22 Dec 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
If you are looking for practice tests to prepare you for the CCIE Qualification 350-001 exam, this is the book to get. It contains 400 questions with detailed answers. If you can score an 85%+ on these tests, you will definitely pass the qualification. But don't cheat yourself and just memorize the answers. If you aren't familiar with the topic, I suggest you find other resources to supplement your understanding of the topic. Highly recommended.
