Product Description

Product Description

New Premium Soft Foam Earplugs are ultra soft with maximum ear protection against unwanted noise. Ideal for sleeping, working, studying, concerts, operating power tools and loud events. These comfortable bell shaped earplugs are designed to fit securely within the ear canal. One size fits 7-11 mm, European standard EN352-2:2002. Sound attenuation data (SNR) =34dB. Recommended use 2-3 times. Discard if plug gets dirty or damaged. Suitable for men and women. Children should always be supervised by an adult. Keep away from infants or small children because, while non-toxic, swallowing earplug may interfere with breathing which could result in serious injury or death.

Indications

1) With clean hands, free from handcreams/lotions, slowly roll and squeeze the earplug between your fingers until it is compressed. 2) Insert the compressed plug slowly into the ear canal. This is easier if the ear is gently pulled upwards and outwards. 3) Keep the plug in place until it has expanded back to fill the ear canal. 4) Refit teh plug if it becomes dislodged through movement. Before each fitting, the plugs should be inspected. Do not use dirty or damaged plugs.

I use earplugs on and off, sometimes every night depending on circumstances. I've tried reusable products and not got on with them, so have been buying e-a-r branded earplugs (the cylinder yellow ones) in bulk over the last few years as these are what I have found the best for me, if still not a little uncomfortable sometimes when used regularly.

I was looking forward to trying out a different shaped earplug, but I haven't liked the cirrus ones at all.

Compared to the e-a-r brand these are larger and made of a softer material with a bell shape. I found the size to be too large (and I don't have small ears) and the bell shape to be uncomfortable, or painful, to the annoying 'heartbeat effect' and haven't been able to last more then 30 minutes with them in at any one time. I gave them several goes to try and get used to them and figure out if it was just me not being used to the shape, but each time I gave up and found sleep more restful without them.

Worryingly the earplugs were also really painful to take out, almost as if it has created a airtight seal and I could still feel the effect minutes later.

The earplugs come packaged in a single plastic bag inside the cardboard box. Within this there is a little plastic carry case box, which does not close very well and I doubt would last up to serious use.

I use earplugs every night as we live near a weir which is pretty but rather noisy, so I was interested to try these out.

The plugs are very soft and expand very quickly to fill the ear canal. They are comfortable to wear and do the job intended very effectively. However, though reusable, the recommendation is for 2 or 3 uses before replacing them with another pair: their softness (having an almost adhesive quality) seems to mean they get much grubbier, much quicker and therefore need replacing. I certainly don't think you could get more than a week, at the absolute most, out of them. In other words, the pack should last 2-4 months for an outlay of £7.99.

My preference, after much experimentation with various types and brands is for Ohropax earplugs Ohropax Earplugs Soft: these are also soft, though noticeably firmer than the Cirrus plugs, cost £5.00 for 5 pairs, work very effectively and are much longer lasting, largely because they stay much cleaner, much longer due to the slightly firmer texture. In my case I get about six months out of a pack of Ohropax which, incidentally, has a much better case than the Cirrus plugs. As far as reducing the impact of noise, I don't think there is much to choose between them.

The Cirrus are good, but I will return to the Ohropax when this Cirrus pack has been used up.

I've been using earplugs most nights for about 20 years (because of snoring!!) so have tried many different types. For example I would never, ever try wax earplugs again, they stick to you hair and just about everything else.

These ones are very good, they cut out the sound very well, I didn't even hear the phone ringing (or the snoring). They are washable and spring back into shape. Theoretically they roll up and then insert obediently down into your ear, in practice I often find they prefer to jam down into a ball shape, this is fine but expand so much after squashing down this can actually be painful. I don't feel they will shed bits which some less robust earplug do, rather alarmingly.

I was intrigued by the sizing guide on the packet, I had no idea that ears were sized. I guess these are standard.

Just used a pair of these for a long (11 hour) flight. Cuts out pretty much everything. They are very comfortable - have used many different brands before, like these the most. Has a small plastic case for carrying them - they are disposable, but can be used several times before replacing.

They roll up quite small and expand, giving a very comfortable air and sound tight seal. Possibly not suited to larger ears (my ear canals are rather small, despite being a large bloke) - likely to be suitable for children.

When I don't want complete sound removal, and ease of popping in and out (e.g. commuting) I use these ER20 Musicians Earplugs.

I'm a semi-frequent user of earplugs, mainly for sleeping but also to block out traffic noise, neighbours etc. I've tried quite a few different types both at home and away, often picking up whatever a local pharmacy or service station had to offer. Eventually, I'd settled on the Laser Lite branded plugs, and those have been with me for quite a while and have become my benchmark.

The Cirrus plugs initially look quite cheap. They look strikingly similar to a terrible pair I picked up from a service station not long ago. However, they're far from being poor quality. The foam is of a perfect consistency to remain firmly put but to not irritate. With most plugs, I have to find a sleeping position that is comfortable with them in. It may be because of the material or because of the shorter length, but I found that the Cirrus were comfortable however I decided to sleep.

The shorter length certainly helped them keep in place, whereas my current brand will frequently go wandering if I have a restless night. Noise reduction is very good. With the foam being a little denser than I'm used to, they blocked out the majority of the sound. Usually I expect to be able to hear certain frequencies, but I can't recall that being the case here. I haven't gone and stood next to a jackhammer though, so I can't vouch for very loud noises.

As for the downsides to these plugs, I would say two things. Firstly, I dislike plugs that are packed in large bags together, instead of being packed two to a pack. Whilst this saves on packaging and cost, it means that I can't easily pick up a pack and throw them into a travel bag quickly. You get a small plastic container with these of dubious durability, which I doubt would stand up to much more than a few knocks. But it's better than nothing.
