haunting, bottom-heavy dirge-metal trance dreams 2 Aug. 2013
By Charlie Quaker - Published on
Format: Audio CD
3rd album from Texas band--haunting, bottom-heavy dirge-metal trance dreams that hover like a
hazy sludge-fog; pull you in with undulating, opiate quicksand legs. Dark threads of slap-you-
slow-and-hard terror crawl through the lyrics, humping the earth like a gigantic inchworm in a
drugged-out demon heat. The buried beauty is hypnotic, deep, slow and heavy. Snail-paced,
hammer-thud drum beats provide a substantive backdrop to the carefully twisted & distorted,
yearning guitar notes and voices that move from deviant-angelic sensuality to lethargy-slurred
pathos. Some similarities to Swans, Codeine, Bardo Pond, Sleep, Mazzy Star, Jex Thoth.
"Circumambulation" is layered with dangerously numbing, mesmerizing power and beauty that
induces a stupor-sleep state you may not want to wake from.

Excellent Album!!! 28 July 2013

I've been waiting for some new music to make me feel this way for a while now. This album is great. Not overproduced andraw in its nature. Dreamy vocals, bass lines that both rattle and distort, and the guitar riffs that you wish you would've come up with. Really great album.

Good music still happens in this decade. 1 Dec. 2013
By ./sentenced2burn - Published on
Format: Vinyl
This is one of my top three albums of 2013, and that says a lot. True Widow give me hope that good music is not dead and gone. With Circumambulation, they've really contributed to 2013 being such a good year for music. Anyone lucky enough to have caught them on tour with Chelsea Wolfe earlier this year has my eternal jealousy.

Ian Curtis would've been proud... 10 Sept. 2013
By Grimmrobe - Published on
Format: Audio CD
Well, it looks like someone's a fan of Joy Division. Taking cues from post-punks greatest bands (the Cure, Joy Division, interpol) True Widow come into their own with Circumambulation. And like every great post-punk album, it's sparse, gloomy, and addicting. If you're a fan of the aforementioned bands, this is the album for you.

Love the songs, but... 25 July 2013

I'm hearing a low level hiss throughout the album. It sounds like it was recorded on my 1995 Fostex 4-track. I love True Widow and the songs are great but this recording just doesn't sound like something that comes out of a modern professional studio. I'll give it 3 stars but it could've been 4.
