Ingrid Black is an excellent all round writer who can construct, in my eyes, the perfect crime novel. Her sentence construction is excellent and her descriptive passages bring to life the City of Dublin. The plots are cleverly drawn out and I have yet to guess 'who dunnit' before the last few pages. Her chief characters, Saxon, and ex-F.B.I. Agent, and Detective Superintendent Grace Fitzgerald work together on the Dublin Murder Squad. They are both women and are in a relationship together. Their emotional bond is underplayed but fits very neatly into their everyday crime solving jobs. Believe me when I say that Black's books are superb both in style and plot. read "Circle of the Dead" and her other three books and you will be hooked on this author!.
